KSAS PhD Hooding Ceremony on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at the Homewood Campus in Baltimore. The Hooding Ceremony will be held in the Shriver Hall Auditorium from 3-4:30 pm
The event will also be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. We are also planning a reception immediately following the ceremony.
This year we are contracting with Marching Order for student registration, name pronunciation, and guest ticket distribution. The guest ticket limit is 5. We are configuring the dashboard currently and you will receive additional details later this month about this.
In the meantime, if you plan to participate in the ceremony, it is important that you order regalia. Appropriate regalia is required. You may order regalia through the JHU Bookstore (order link: https://jhu.shopoakhalli.com). You can also order regalia by attending the Barnes and Noble Graduation Regalia Fair held on April 2, 3, and 4 from 11:00am – 6:00pm at Barnes & Noble, 3330 St Paul St. The last day to order regalia is April 9, 2022. SPECIAL NOTE: Please note that you won’t have to order the hood when you rent your cap and gown. The hoods will be a gift to you from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.
Advisor Role/Hooding Logistics
If you intend to participate in the ceremony, please check in with your advisor to see if they are able to attend and hood you. If they cannot come, you can still be hooded by an alternate or by one of the KSAS Deans, but it is important to coordinate this in advance so that regalia can be ordered.
If you are participating in the Hooding Ceremony, your hood will be provided to you at the event that Wednesday afternoon (May 18th).
Not Attending the Hooding Ceremony?
If you are not attending the Hooding Ceremony but will be attending the University Commencement later in the week (Sunday, May 22nd), you or designated academic staff from your department can pick up your hood from the KSAS Dean’s Office (please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you need this option).
