The KSAS PhD Hooding Ceremony is on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Homewood Campus in Baltimore. The Hooding Ceremony will be held in the Shriver Hall Auditorium at 3 pm, with a reception to follow.
The event will also be live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person. We are also planning a reception immediately following the ceremony.
Registration
Registration is now open. Eligible candidates should have received an invitation in their JHU email from ksashooding@mail572.jh.edu. If you haven’t received it, please contact ksashooding@jhu.edu. Registration will close on April 19.
Regalia
Important Dates:
Grad Fair will be hosted at the Barnes & Noble Johns Hopkins Bookstore April 11, 2024 through April 13, 2024 from 11 am – 6 pm for bachelors or masters graduates interested in purchasing regalia in person.
Last day to order regalia online: April 5, 2024
Master’s Degree Ceremony – Monday, May 20th, 2024, at 7 p.m. at Homewood Field
PhD Hooding Ceremony – Wednesday, May 22nd,2024, at 3 p.m. at Shriver Hall
Universitywide Commencement (main ceremony for bachelors) – Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Homewood Field
Bachelor’s & master’s regalia ordered online will be shipped directly to the student’s desired home address, or can be purchased in store starting April 11th.
Doctoral rental regalia can be ordered online and will ship to bookstore for pickup starting May 13th.
**Please note group orders will not be accepted. Only one complete package may be purchased per order.**
If you are a doctoral student interested in fine quality doctoral regalia, click the “Custom Regalia” button. If you want rental regalia then continue by clicking the “Let’s Get Started” option.
Please note doctoral rental regalia must be dropped off to the bookstore no later than May 24th. Please commemorate with pictures prior to the ceremony.
You may return your souvenir regalia unopened within 30 days and we will gladly refund you the purchase price less shipping. All returned items must be unopened and in their original packaging.
A note about purchasing doctoral regalia: the Fine Quality website will be closing on March 18th 2024 to allow 9 weeks for production and delivery of the fine quality regalia.
Advisor Role/Hooding Logistics
If you intend to participate in the ceremony, please check in with your advisor to see if they are able to attend and hood you. If they cannot come, you can still be hooded by an alternate or by one of the KSAS Deans, but it is important to coordinate this in advance so that regalia can be ordered.
If you are participating in the Hooding Ceremony, your hood will be provided to you at the event Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Not Attending the Hooding Ceremony?
If you are not attending the Hooding Ceremony but will be attending the University Commencement later in the week (Thursday, May 23rd), you or designated academic staff from your department can pick up your hood from the KSAS Dean’s Office (please send an email to ksashooding@jhu.edu to let us know you need this option).
